MHSA F3C Nationals
« on: February 14, 2008, 06:43:21 am »
The F3C Helicopter nationals are around the corner. 15/16 March depending on entries but most probably it will be a one day 16 March event. Of course the event will cater for classes 1,2&3 as well as F3C. Beginners will be sought after so don't hesitate to enter into class 1!

Venue: Rosslyn Aero Modelers, Pretoria.

Entries close end of this month so not much time left! Get them in!

Details on the classes can be found on the MHSA website: www.mhsa.co.za
Details on class F3C can of course be found on the official FAI website.

Entry form and more detail here:

Sorry seems I made a booboo on the date I posted in that one. It's happening on the 9th of March, NOT the 15/16th.

My bad.

Oh footnote if you will. It's not set in stone but I verbally established that using Spektrum or FASST systems along with one other 35mhz frequency will be permitted for this competition. Reason being alot of guys (Including myself) are in the process of switching to 2.4 and as we all know this comes at a cost. So some of us will be wanting to enter maybe a primary model on 2.4 and a backup on normal 35mhz. Please note that this is not allowed under normal sircumstances and definitely not allowed at official FAI events, it's a compromise just for a little while to accommedate change.

Hi all,

Entries closed this past Friday. I can't be sure but I heard mention that this was going to be a fairly small Nationals. Thus I'm sure regular RAM members can bargain on having a field to fly on late'ish this Sunday afternoon.

See you all there and best of luck to all the pilots that entered.

Well the Nats are in the history books folks! A big congratulations to everybody that participated and of course a big thank you is in order I think especially to all the guys from Rosslyn Aero Modelers that again proved they just have what it takes to host an event of this caliber. The catering was something to experience and the general vibe throughout the event was magical. Thanks to all the organisers, the score keeper, the judges and everyone that just came out to provide support. You all made a very memorable event possible!

Then I reckon a HUGE congratulations is in order for our new South African F3C champion, the youngster (If memory serves he is only 16/17 now) Jason Welsh. Excellent work my friend!

The competition in the F3C class is really coming alive now and we hope we can see more new faces coming to the challenge in the near future. The standard is most certainly going up and it seems like the real battle for the top spots are heating up. South Africa is quickly getting back into the swings of things when it comes to helicopter aerobatics competition.

Now my attempt at posting the results:

CLASS F3C

17 JASON WELSH 1000.000 1000.000 1000.000 2000.000
15 HENKE BEYERS 961.814 981.941 945.378 1943.755
16 RUDOLF DU TOIT 894.988 975.169 926.471 1901.640

20 LEON CILLIERS 498.807 537.246 546.218 1083.465

The above are all of course normalised scores, I have the raw scores here but it becomes a little too much info. The normalised scores from my experience doesn't always truly reflect what happened during the competition especially with so few competitors, it really only starts working IMHO with 30 or more pilots in a single class but ok that's something for a whole different discussion.

I have some pictures at home I'll try to get posted when I have some spare time.

Cheers,
Spacey
