Advice please..i have an esc that is set to cut off at 5 volts which was fine using Ni-Mh batteries. i am changing to 3 cell Lipo at 11.1 volts..what would happen if they ever reached the 5 volt cut off?..reason i ask is i am having problems re-programming the esc. many thanks..howard

Dont use it like that , it will wreck your Lipo .
What kind of problems do you have programing the esc?
Also give us your esc make and model , maybe someone here can help .

My esc is a speedmax 40..when i try to reprogramme it , it wont go the complete programming cycle and ends up back at 5 volt cut off.

The programming section in the manual is pretty simple , the only thing that I found that you should double check is this bit .

"Note: the cut-off voltage and brake must be programmed in the same programming session."


And this.

"Troubleshooting: If the LED rapidly flashes at any time during this setup, you will need to start again. It means that the stick was not
in the expected position at the expected time. If the LED does not flash at all, the ESC has not detected a valid RC signal."

So questions ,  did you complete the programming by setting the brake also?
and did it flash rapidly indicating that you need to start over?

If this didnt help you will have to take it back to your supplier.

i have not bothered about the brake..i originally set it up and it works fine on my nicads..i used a different radio to try and reprogramme it but it flashes correctly for the first two stick movements then when i go to the next stage it just flashes the 5 times..ie back to square one.I am actually using this on a control line aircraft just for fun so i really only want 3 minutes of flying but a timer i bought wont respond to the esc...or vice versa..so the 5 volts cut off is actually not that critical providing i only stick to + - 3 minutes....running 2 480 speed motors on a 1500 20c lipo.  Howard
