Esky 4in1 trouble help or ideas
« on: January 22, 2009, 12:04:59 pm »
I have a Esky lama V3, crashed many times with this little heli. At the time i bought it, it wasn't small to me. After reading many forums out there i discovered it is only a little heli :) Nevertheless my problem is that i was flying my lama around the house very nicely and i went to go and land where i could not see it. So i fetched it but before doing so i wanted lay down the transmitter but when doing so the throttle hit my leg and i guess i dont have to explain what happened then :(
anyways my lama now spins very fast in a clockwise direction and the my throttle doesn't even reach the centre. i cant even get off the ground with it :(. When i had the crash there was no blown mosfets and i already try to replace the.  i've got some soldering skills :) any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated
Thanks in advance
B :)

You sure you didn't just damage the one motor?

Hi Spacey
Tested motors. Even changed the motor i suspected is faulty but still the same problem. Listen to this. On the day i posted this thread later the evening i thought i'll inspect the whole thing again at this time i replaced both mosfets and tested the diodes as well, the heli starts up like it should meaning, i turn on the transmitter first, then the receiver and wait till the light goes green for ready state. up on the throttle and there proper response. what puzzled me was that when i have it on the ground and just before take off it spins up like crazy!! >:( And when i held it in my hands then i get no such behaviour even at full throttle just before the red light comes on the receiver :)
At this point i thought of another idea to throttle the up the blades one at time starting with the lower ones i suspected was faulty. I got to throttle it up to an idle holding it in my hands this time again, and started making movements with it while in my hands the heli's blades just spins up like crazy when making sudden movements, the same happened with the upper set but it was more sensitive with the lower ones. This was all new to me because i haven't read about this anywhere else. However there is another POT on the 4in1 to the left of the GAIN adjustment but this one is not talked about. All that i've read was to leave it alone :)  not for me because at this point with 4 in 1 trouble i thought already i needed a new one. So i decided to try and adjust this to the centre because i assumed it could fix the sensitivity issue...
And walla!! it actually worked!! :) :)
did the same thing holding it in my hands and the sensitivity issue was gone!! :)
Would still like to know what this pot is for though, any comments would be great!! :)
Thx's for the reply Spacey :)

Afraid I'm out on this one, not at all very familier with the coaxial helicopters and definitely haven't fiddled with a Lama or it's adjustments. But I'm sure someone else knows what this pot is for? Anyone?

I try to fly anything and everything with wings and rotors! Hahaha. I can keep a heli in one piece, sometimes. :) Rosslyn Aero Modelers out in Pretoria is my teritory.
