Need help with 500 scale
« on: December 22, 2008, 09:17:09 AM »
Me being a newbie to heli flying( been trying for 18 months) I decided to build a scale heli .
I am going to use the T Rex 500 as a frame but need some help with multi rotors.
Q1- do I still use 425mm main blades on a quad head?
Q2- do I still use same size tail blades on a Penta blade( 5) tail rotor?
Q3- How can I lift the tail rotor to sit high on tail fin?
Q4- What cyclic servos would work the best?
Q5- can I use 3 gyros instead of something like GAUI's multi axix gyro, and if yes where do I plug the signal wire from the Gyro's?

Hope some one can help me :-)

Well reading your Recipe it seems that your scale will be something looking like Magnum P.I.'s heli buddy with the Huges 500 Chooper. If that is the case, then you would'nt need a second or 3rd gyro. You will need proper setup on the Penta Head. The head should be 90 degrees out of sync. with the Swashplate. For the high tailrotor there is stuff on the market to extent the boom's end upwords. Maybe look at a Century Hughes 500 body kit. Setup- make sure not to put your standard negative pitch in the pitch-curve setup. Happy landings!

Not going penta on main rotor but quad, The end result will be a Rooivalk with quad main and penta tail rotor. I don't want to do it half it must look like the real thing. Did have a look at Century but they only got a shaft gearbox to elevate tail and its for a 50 size heli not 500 electric :-(
thinking of making something like Thunder Tiger did with the Cobra for the Mini Titan where the belt curves up threw pully's, but need some one with a cnc machine that is not hungry for bucks.
